What is a Euro/American Hybrid?

I like to say that my game is a Euro/American hybrid, but what does that mean to someone who hasn't been exposed to a number of European or "Ameritrash" games? Here are a number of good qualities that I have pulled from these two broad categories of games. These lists are by no means complete.

From European games:
1. Players are not eliminated.
2. The winner is not known until after the last turn.
3. Indirect interaction - players don't directly steal from each other or hurt each other, interaction is more subtle.
4. There are meaningful decisions to be made, both long term strategies and short term tactics.
5. There is more than one path towards victory, more than one viable approach to winning the game.
6. Short play time, in this case 45-60 minutes.

American games:
1. Tell a story. Afterwards you'll be talking about "that time you __" in terms of the theme of the game, not the mechanisms.
2. There are unexpected events, some element of chance that either helped or hindered your plans.
3. Character customization - players have one or more avatars present in the game, not anonymous pieces, but individualized characters.
4. In American games you get to kill things, but you also play with the fear that you can get killed yourself.
